livePic

What's "livePic"? "Drawing", "Animation", "Communication"

>> Abstract

"livePic" is a drawing system, at the same time it is an interactive display.
Simply put, it is a system to provide embodied interactions between users and users' drawings. Users can feel as if they magically bring their drawings to life.
After they draw something, they can animate the picture with physical interactions, such as their breaths.

>> Concepts

Direct manipulation to the drawings

Our main theme is to expand the traditional drawing experience.
We think that we can give new kinds of experiences and impressions to users, by not having the experience end with the end of the drawing, but enabling direct interactions with pictures that they have just drawn. It is important that the user feels that they are interacting with the picture itself, and not the screen or the system.
In livePic, we designed interaction as something that should not contradict experience. We think that it must provide interactions the way the user intended, without straying from the users' imaginations and expectations.
Digitally processed or not, it does not matter.

Stimulates the creativity

By providing more amusing and exciting drawing experience, we are trying to expand the experiences of the users. We expect a lot of sympathy from the parents and to grab children's heart.
livePic has possibilities to stimulate potential creativity and sensibility of the children and to grow their imagination throughout their youth. Being able to stimulate potential creativity of small children is valuable both as a toy and a communication tool.
The users' acts of communicating with each other through physical actions like blowing is similar to the act of playing catch. The play of drawing may be done alone, but livePic's strength lies in its ability to enable communications with multiple people, such as friends.

>> How to play

・In "livePic", users use a brush and a pallet to draw.
・Users can change the colors of the brush by touching the color of their choices on the pallet, then draw.
・When users blow their drawings directly, drawings start to animate.
・As users draw on pre-selected background, they will be able to interact with flower petals and leaves.
・By drawing with multiple users, they can play catch with their drawings using their breaths.
・Moreover, when they animate multiple drawings with their breaths, pictures will collide with each other, as if they are playing a game.
